Wreck This Journal Project. <– Pictures and Videos

So today I did some activities from the book to get me started. I really couldn’t help myself, so I ended up doing a bunch.

You can’t see it but I actually wrote my name in white. I had fun doing this page, it was a good warm up. I especially liked writing my name backwards.

I can’t wait to eventually upload every single page number that I write down in the journal. Each one will be different. Challenge accepted!

When I saw this I thought of my boyfriend immediately. He keeps all his books in perfect condition and I could only imagine his reaction if he was there in the room with me when I did it. XD

I didn’t really post something for this page because of what it is, but it cameoed in the video for Crack The Spine. This page made me appreciate the fact of knowing when to stop and just leave something alone.

This activity was my favourite one of the day. It felt so invigorating to stomp all over a book and not having to care about it being ruined. Also the fact that I purposely did it. It was very refreshing.

Overall today was a good start to the project. It made my day better and made me feels better and more alive. (I say that because I’m currently at the end of my first year of college and it’s really stressful, so this book is quite effective for me.)

I think I am going to make every Saturday, Wreck Day or Wrecking  Day until I finish all the activities in the book. 😀

Feel free to comment on all the crazy activities I did, etc.

Talk to you more about this next Wreck Day!!!

P.S. I will probably update this post later with more reflection notes.

Wreck This Journal Project

I went on a trip to Straford, Ontario with my parents last fall and came across a series of books by Keri Smith. They were awesome and I wanted to buy them but didn’t.

Today I bought one of them. I bought WRECK THIS JOURNAL.

“For anyone who”s ever wished to, but had trouble starting, keeping, or finishing a journal or sketchbook comes Wreck This Journal, an illustrated book that features a subversive collection of prompts, asking readers to muster up their best mistake- and mess-making abilities to fill the pages of the book (and destroy them). Acclaimed illustrator Keri Smith encourages journalers to engage in “destructive” acts-poking holes through pages, adding photos and defacing them, painting with coffee, and more-in order to experience the true creative process. Readers discover a new way of art and journal making-and new ways to escape the fear of the blank page and fully engage in the creative process.”

I have decided to document my journey with this book and it’s crazy activities. I am doing this for many reasons. I want to record this so I can look back on what I have done and what I have learned from this book. So I can look back and laugh at what I did and such. I also how that, as I figure this book will bring me inspiration, that by sharing it here I can inspire someone as well or at least for them to buy the book.

I will be using a variety of media for this, from writing to pictures, and videos. I might even do some audio recordings.

I look forward to the adventures I will have with it and the memories it will create. I hope you will enjoy the crazy ride as much as I hope I will. 🙂

P.S. If you have a copy of Wreck This Journal feel free to share stories or pictures about it. I’d love to read and see what you’ve done. 😀

Found one of my blog posts on another website…

Yeah. How often does that happen when you just started a blog.

I was googling my posts randomly today and I ended up finding this: http://www.healthwd.info/news/possible-9gag-addiction–9gag-vs-funnyjunk/

291 people liked it on facebook. That’s awesome but it’s not on my blog which sucks. The good thing is that they sourced my post. I didn’t see it at first so I was writing a email to them about it. Good thing I found it before I sent the email. XD

I can’t believe it was put on a heath site of all things. I guess because I used the word addiction it made it relevant material for them to use.

Though it’s funny how I only find it almost a month later when they posted it on their site the same day I posted it here.

Well either way it’s still pretty cool and unexpected. I’m kind of flattered.

Has this happened to you?
